This piece is made with a Raw Black Tourmaline cluster & three real roots from a fallen Ponderosa Pine tree within my favorite canyon and all encased in darkened copper! Features six symmetrical Ruby Jade beads upon the chain to represent the six pomegranate seeds consumed by Persephone. I found these beads at the last Denver Gem & Mineral show in September while specifically hunting for the most "pomegranate" bead!

This collection is called "The Rise of Persephone". Each piece is carefully crafted with a specific intention in mind involving her story and myth. The vision for this piece came to me one night at 3am and I created it the very next day! This piece speaks on the way Persephone has both adapted to as well as grown comfort in her transition of finding herself in the depths of the Underworld after being an innocent daughter of the earth above. She moved from Maiden of the flowers to the Queen of the Underworld. This mythologized her as well as granted her a special kind of goddess-ship and divinity. I chose three tree roots for this piece as they are the hidden growth of a mighty flora. It's the unseen part under the earth that provides strength to the tree we see before us. The roots point down in the direction of the Underworld. The roots are almost hugging this deeply dark and protective Black Tourmaline. Keeping it safe and grounded. Feels like building familiarity in the dark unseen parts of ourselves and rising to power through that process.
