This piece is made with a sparkling Sunstone, a see through faceted Garnet & a single real twig of Lilac all encased in darkened copper! The chain featured one single Ruby Jade bead to represent the pomegranate seeds consumed by Persephone.

This collection is called "The Rise of Persephone". Each piece is carefully crafted with a specific intention in mind involving her story and myth. This specific piece is meant to be a staff of Persephone. She is seen in some more recent interpretations holding a pomegranate twig staff to represent her role as Queen of the Underworld.
I chose Sunstone as her rise on the Spring Equinox is greeted with the return of growth and life force on earth and amongst the land. I placed a single Garnet on the bottom of the staff imagining as if she was to place the staff upon the ground- the pomegranate might dig into the earth reminding her of her soon return back to the Underworld. I crafted this piece with a solid twig from a Lilac visited in a local graveyard. As she is both the Maiden of Spring and Queen of the Underworld- Lilac and graveyard feels suiting. Lilac trees are one of my favorite spring scents and she does oversee the land of the dead after all.
The single Ruby Jade "pomegranate" bead being placed hidden at the clasp of the chain is intentional. As you wrap and clasp a necklace- you're securing (or binding) it to yourself for the day. Just as the pomegranate secured (or bound) Persephone to the Underworld for half of the year.
