This collection is called "The Rise of Persephone". Each piece is carefully crafted with a specific intention in mind involving her story and myth. The Weeping Willow Wands are pieces of duality. They hold two complex relationships at once. Persephone was seen as an innocent and meek daughter of the Goddess of the harvest until she founds herself in the Underworld with Hades. This realm was so different from what Persephone was used to, but it gave her something special. It gave her a chance at freedom, divinity, power and goddess-ship herself. Spring is about rebirth, growth, hope, light returning while the Underworld is death, the forbidden, the unseen. The story of Persephone is a story of the cyclical nature of death and rebirth. Embracing and ruling over these metaphorical patterns and sides of ourselves.
The Green Chlorite Quartz faces upwards and represents her rise on the Spring Equinox. The Black Tourmaline point faces downwards and represents her descent on the Autumn Equinox. I chose Weeping Willow as this is not only one of her widely known correspondences, but it is one of the few trees that point downwards towards the Underworld. Reminding us, I think, of this cycle of death and rebirth.
The single Ruby Jade "pomegranate" bead being placed hidden at the clasp of the chain is intentional. As you wrap and clasp a necklace- you're securing (or binding) it to yourself for the day. Just as the pomegranate secured (or bound) Persephone to the Underworld for half of the year.
